Massage at Preggi Central

The main aim of massage is to assist the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Massage relaxes and tones muscles decreasing the risk of injury and reduces recovery time after injury or strenuous activity. Massage increases circulation which in turn increases the uptake of oxygen and nutrients by the body’s vital organs. It also reduces swelling by stimulating lymphatic circulation.

In pregnancy, a woman’s body undergoes very rapid physical changes. The pelvic girdle opens/widens which places stress on the surrounding soft tissue, often resulting in ‘sciatic’ pain, a numbness or shooting pain in the buttocks and down the leg, lower back pain or restless leg syndrome. Changes in bust size can add an extra strain on the middle thorax/back, which can lead to neck pain and headaches. Oedema/swelling is not only uncomfortable, but can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome and other problems. Having a massage will help to alleviate these annoyances. Having regular massages means that problematic areas can be identified before they become serious issues. Most importantly, MASSAGE FEELS GREAT.

Pregnant women have the choice of using the belly pillow which allows you to lie on your tummy safely, or lying on your side for massage treatment. Massage at Preggi Central is not exclusive to expectant mums. The service is there for expectant fathers, Grand parents, Aunts, Uncles, brother, sisters and recovering mums. Everyone will benefit from massage whether it be for pure Relaxation, Therapeutic or Remedial treatments.

RELAXATION MASSAGE A light soothing massage that relaxes the body and mind

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE A combination of relaxation massage and deep tissue massage that not only helps to relax the body and mind, but also works on the deeper layers of muscle tissue to release chronic tension in the body.

REMEDIAL MASSAGE Focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It involves a wide range of diagnostic techniques to assess and treat musculoskeletal conditions. Treatment often uses techniques that can be uncomfortable, not painful, as well as light stretches. Remedial massage incorporated with lighter relaxing techniques is a great holistic treatment for a wide range of conditions and injuries.

Note: While pregnant, there are specific essential oils that should not be used. There are also various Acupressure/acupuncture points that should not be triggered during a massage treatment. Your massage therapist will ensure that any oils used are can advise you on these issues.
