Mum 'n' Bub Yoga

Yoga does not have to be just for pregnancy. As a lot of us know yoga is a lifelong thing. Motherhood is a beautiful experience, however it comes with all of life’s other challenges. There will be days when you think what is this all about? I’m tired, the house is a mess and there is nothing for dinner.  Use yoga to ease yourself softly into motherhood. Learn to be gentle with your expectations of yourself and your baby. Take time to stop and appreciate the small things in life. Use the breathing and relaxation practices you have learned during the pregnancy can now be very helpful in those early days to help you relax or take some time out when you can. Yoga has already given you the tools to respond to all these challenges.

After your child is born yoga can be beneficial in helping your body recover. After a few weeks when you are feeling stronger and fully recovered from the birth you could begin some gently practices to help your body regain its fabulous pre pregnant state. It is best to get clearance from your doctor before you commence any form of exercise.

Post natal yoga is a balanced class focused on practices for restoring tone and strength within the body. You will soon notice the benefits, as firmness is improved within your abdomen, the pelvic floor as well as improved strength, balance and flexibility.

Classes are designed for mums and babies to enjoy yoga together. Post natal yoga can be the physical side necessary to regain your optimum health and can be used as a mental release so needed at this time of being a new mum.

It’s a great time to bring your bub along to a class and meet with other mothers, or organise something with your new mothers group.

Classes will be relaxed so mums can be with the baby to meet their needs as they arise. Babies can be placed on the mat or alongside you and you will be actively engaged with them throughout the class. If they happen to be asleep, great, they can rest in their pram while you enjoy some time for yourself.

Practicing yoga with your child can be very rewarding and sharing some time to establish a yoga routine that will work for you both is important. This time together can be a great bonding process where you are nurturing qualities and behaviours that are important to you and your family.

Classes are taught by an experienced Yoga Teacher (click here) to meet Maxine.
